Tomaresca Neprica 2008More tastes of Pelican Bay. There were so many good wines poured at the event it is hard to choose, but with our beautiful weather I decided on some big reds.

First off is a Tomaresca Neprica 2008 from the Puglia area of Italy.

It may sound odd, but really it is a blend of Negroamaro, Primitivo and Cabernet. A bright ruby red with aromas of ripe red berries and light spicy liquorice. On your palate you will get a well balanced acidity, ripe dark fruits and chocolate. Because it is a big big Italian red it can be paired with smoked meats and BBQ as well as some strong cheese with fresh bread.

With an odd name but great juice, this wine is sure to become a favourite.

La Storia Zinfandel 2009Coming back to one of my many favourite areas we get La Storia Zinfandel 2009 Coming at us from the Alexander Valley created by Trentadue Winery in California.

This is a classic Alexander Valley Zin with aromas of dark cherries and plums. On your palate you will get juicy blackberry and subtle pepper with silky tannins that lets you enjoy with or without food. The wine was aged in for 11 months in Oak barrels and along with the toasty ness of oak aging comes the chocolate and vanilla flavours that make a zin a great zin. This wine can be enjoyed with strong fish, smoked meats, and more!!!!

2 more of the amazing selection to be had at out wine show and as always, drinkable on their own or paired with great food.

Cheers
